So it's been like a week since I last posted, and that means there's a lot to talk about. Here goes...
1. My house: I love love love my house. Yes, triple love. Granted, you have to watch the noise level due to the neighbors that live in the basement, but I still love it. I'm even beginning to like its quirks... like the drawer in the kitchen that is broken, keeping our clothes in what should be the pantry, and learning to not walk barefoot because the old wood floor sometimes gifts us slivers. But I love having all my own baking supplies, my own food, pots & pans, even my own laundry machines! It's wonderful to have a place to really call "home."
2. My roommate: Well, he installs computer software, fixes broken stuff, cleans, cooks, AND gives back rubs. He's also fairly clean and doesn't leave me huge messes to clean up. I am so blessed to have a wonderful husband and friend. I don't know how, but we haven't gotten tired of each other yet.
3. The job: Three (or two?) posts ago, I was bemoaning my not-real first day of work. Now... well, I can work pretty much from sun-up to sun down and never finish working. I am "living the dream" (as some of my friends would say). I really get to work with students. and mentors. and parents. and be in charge of myself. and NOT have to be at a desk everyday.
It's funny - I loved the chaos that was Keystone and trying to keep everyone in line/on task all the time. I've fallen into an equally passionate and equally unstructured organization - they gladly take my structures, they're just not the most structured people around. Anyways, so far so good. Now we just need to continue receiving funding for my position, and all will be well.
(today was a good work day, can you tell?)
4. This will be continued, hopefully tomorrow. But "settling in, part two" will be the fun stuff we've done in the last week - and there are some memory-makers!
So, for today, I say, tally-ho and remember... there's always an open air mattress at our CO abode!
